The latest issue of Sport Strategies Magazine has covered the recent developments in Air Race E and the progressive partnership with new Founding Partner Airbus.

As plans are set to launch the electric version of the motorsport speed competition in 2020, Sports Strategies Magazine discussed how Air Race E is working alongside Airbus in order to achieve the ambitious sustainable developments.

Discussing the future of Air Race E, Jeff Zaltman explains, “Air Race E will develop a complete series of races around the world. This will be the most important form of Air Racing in history, because it will lead us into the future and have benefits for all of society”.

Air Race E’s goal to value electric energy in the aerospace industry naturally invites the partnership with Airbus, as Zaltman mentions“Just like us, Airbus is committed to encouraging and supporting the advancement of technology across the sector. We encourage all electric powertrain manufacturers to contact us and register with a participating team.”

Sports Strategies interviewed Matthieu Develleroy, Media Manager for Airbus, discussing the decision to partnership with Air Race E and outlining the approach they intend to take towards the next generation of the sport.

Develleroy said, “The Airbus affiliation with sport is evident throughout partnerships with Stade Toulousain and the American Magic team on the America’s Cup in sailing. Consequently, it was a logical decision for Airbus to connect with Air Race E.”

Develleroy then explained how recent environmental challenges have resulted in a natural responsibility to integrate and promote clean and eco-friendly aviation like what Air Race E offers.

He explained, “By being a part of this competition, we have the goal of building a new aviation ecosystem.

“Abandoning fossil fuels, this will benefit the airlines that will lower their consumption costs. And, of course, at the end of the chain, this gain will be reflected in the price of consumer tickets, which should be cheaper.

“Also, the consequences of this operation will inevitably aid the development to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.”
